The company has its roots in the field of chronobiology; the science that investigates the interaction of endogenously generated 24 hours rhythms in our body with cycles in the environment (e.g., light-dark cycle, temperature cycles). The goal of the company is to apply this knowledge in our 24/7 society to improve the quality of life of the population. Chrono@Work B.V. focuses on research driven consultancy, training and applied science. Topics may vary from ‘what the optimal spectrum and intensity of light is for different times of day’, to ‘testing optimal light treatment parameters for sleep disorders and mood disorders’, to ‘finding the optimal solution for meal timing and composition for shift workers’. Time (‘CHRONOS’) is important in our current society, but only by combining knowledge on internal and external time it is possible to WORK on the optimal solutions to improve productivity, well-being, and healthy ageing.
