Since 1970, the North Carolina Sierra Club has worked to protect natural areas, ensure clean air and water for all citizens, expand access to clean energy, and much more across our state. Our areas of focus include: Safeguarding North Carolina's public lands, its fragile coastline and mountain ecosystems Advocating for clean solar and wind power to replace dirty coal fired power plants and other fossil fuels that contribute to climate change Conserving our national forests and wilderness areas in NC Working with coastal communities to build resiliency in the face of sea level rise
