Thompson Couplings Limited
www.thompsoncouplings.comThompson Couplings Ltd is a public Australian company and owner of a range of patented and trademarked products dedicated to the transmission of power in a large variety of rotating mechanical equipment. Specifically we design and manufacture shaft couplings and drivelines all with the unique feature of CONSTANT VELOCITY. Why CONSTANT VELOCITY? Historically the most commonly used shaft coupling used for centuries is the Universal joint for connecting driveshafts in automotive, heavy vehicle transportation, trains and countless fixed plant equipment. They all suffer the same problem as the transmitted speed to the final device is NON CONSTANT (or oscillating) due to the basic design nature of that coupling. This increases drastically with larger shaft angles and speed giving rise to vibration and energy losses. Vibration reduces service life of equipment and quickly destroys them. By contrast Thompson Couplings range of couplings are all of a CONSTANT VELOCITY nature thereby drastically reducing vibrations and improving the life of equipment. Our Australian designed products comprise: • The patented Thompson Constant Velocity Joint (TCVJ) ®. This coupling transfers power through large angles of shaft articulation (up to 30 degrees) specifically for difficult situations where traditional couplings will not work due to excessive vibration. • The trademarked Thompson Coupling Alignment Eliminator (TCAE) ™. Our compact design coupling is achieving great success in applications such as pump/motor drives where minor misalignment angles prove disastrous for other traditional couplings (gear/grid/elastomeric etc). Within these categories are a wide range of product sizes to suit your individual power requirement for a shaft coupling. We also configure these couplings with a custom length driveshaft for a complete power transfer solution to suit your needs.
