JO Gives and its programs focus on animal advocacy, facial trauma in children and those suffering from ALS. Our cumulative efforts strive to make our big community feel smaller by nurturing relationships and fostering hope in those who need a voice, an advocate, or a hand up. JO Gives is focused on serving our local community through Low-Cost Pet Vaccination Clinics that are held at the Janice Overbeck Real Estate Team office with the help of a local veterinarian partner. JO Gives is currently focusing on a special project called Beyond Borders Spay & Neuter. Our goal is to spay and neuter 2,000 dogs and cats in poverty stricken areas of Mexico and Central America. Studies have shown that one unaltered female dog can produce 67,000 offspring over the course of six years. For cats, that number is a staggering 317,000 offspring over a total of six years. By helping spay & neuter these animals, we are helping the quality of life for the people and pets who inhabit those countries. As of the end of 2020, Beyond Borders was able to spay and neuter about 1,750 dogs and cats making us close to hitting our goal of 2,000 spay and neuters. In addition, JO Gives, Inc. also focuses on raising money for the Emory ALS Research Center after the passing of Janice's father, Fred Seidell. We have raised over $134,283 to date. Lastly, Janice Overbeck created The Chin Up Foundation after she suffered facial trauma from a dog bite in 2018. During her treatments and subsequent recovery process, she realized children from low-income households who have experienced the same trauma may not be able to afford the procedures necessary for improved healing through scar reduction. Through JO Gives, she hopes to provide funding to these children so they have equal opportunity to get the healthcare they need. To sum things up. JO Gives is not just passionate about animals, but the entire community. We strive to make our world a better place for everyone.
