The Memorial Baja team is comprised of students of diverse backgrounds at the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Through generous donations from sponsors, the team competes in yearly competitions within North America hosted by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Every year Memorial Baja's ingenuity and creativity skills are challenged as members brainstorm strategies to outperform the other competitors. The competition encompasses tasks such as a vehicle design sales presentation, four-hour endurance race, rock crawling, hill climbing, and many more. Aside from the mandatory 10 hp Briggs and Stratton engine, Memorial Baja's vehicle is designed, manufactured and assembled by its members.
