The store was originally located at 12th and H Streets in downtown Washington, D.C. In April of 1968, that location destroyed due to fire in the riots of that same year, following the assassination of Martin Luther King. Two months later, operations resumed at the current location on Veirs Mill Road in Wheaton, Maryland where it still stands today as the largest independent music store in the country!
