Bay Area Climbers Coalition

www.bayareaclimberscoalition.org

The Bay Area Climbers Coalition is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on preserving access to our local outdoor areas by actively fostering positive relationships with land managers, hosting stewardship events, and providing educational programming for the climbing community. Formed in 2013 and incorporated as a non-profit in 2014, the Coalition has brought hundreds of volunteers to over a dozen Bay Area crags, successfully removing thousands of pounds of trash and other debris, clearing graffiti from multiple rock walls, and improving miles of access trails. The Bay Area Climbers Coalition primarily works within the 9-county San Francisco Bay Area, serving crags from Pinnacles National Park in the south to Mount Saint Helena in the north and Mount Diablo State Park in the east. We also partner with peer organizations to contribute to stewardship efforts at destination climbing areas that are significantly affected by Bay Area climbers, including Yosemite National Park and Bishop, California. In 2016, the Bay Area Climbers Coalition consisted of a 5-member board of directors that conducted all Coalition activities and coordinated over 1,000 volunteers and community members. For 2017, the board of directors was expanded to 7 voting positions and approximately 20 at-large positions, with an ever-increasing group of volunteers and community members.
