Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, hosts talented undergraduates at our nationally acclaimed program Research Intensive Summer Experience (RISE) at the our flagship New Brunswick Campus. We offer: *Cutting-edge interdisciplinary research opportunities at one of the nation’s top 25 public universities *Personalized mentor matching with world class faculty; an excellent funding package of up to $6000, free housing, and subsidized travel *Partnerships with REU programs in Cellular Bioengineering, Green Energy Technology, Advanced Materials, Proteomics & Bioinformatics, Toxicology & Pharmaceutical Sciences (RISE applicants can be considered automatically by partner REUs) We consider applicants who are: *A US citizen or permanent resident *Interested in considering a future PhD program *Completing at least the sophomore year by June 2020. Occasionally, we consider current first-years with extraordinary credentials *A minimum GPA of 3.0 on 4.0 scale. Admission is highly selective, and successful applicants typically have excellent academic records We particularly encourage students who are: *Underrepresented in their fields of study *From economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds *The first generation to attend college *Attending predominantly undergraduate institutions with limited research opportunities *Non-traditional students *Facing or have faced life challenges
