www.barry.eduThe Barry University Student Managed Investment Fund (SMIF) is a student-founded and student-run investment research and management organization. Consistent with Barry University’s mission SMIF has two primary purposes. First, to provide experiential education where students learn via real-time, first-hand experiences the many and varied practical uses and applications of the classroom theories, concepts, and principles of security research and valuation and the design, construction, and management of portfolios of securities. SMIFs second purpose is to contribute to community well-being by providing financial literacy programs through collaborative and mutually productive partnerships. SMIF has been supported by Barry University’s Board of Trustees who have allocated monies from the University’s endowment as the corpus of the funds for SMIF to invest.
