National Council of Women of Great Britain (NCWGB)
www.ncwgb.orgAt the National Council of Women, we want to ensure that women play a full role in our society. Our aim is to make women more interested in local, regional and national affairs and to get them more involved in decision-making. We represent women’s views and concerns at the highest levels of government and are determined to make sure that discrimination is eradicated from all areas of society. We carry out research, hold consultations, debates and seminars, follow developments in legislation and respond to government consultations on a whole range of issues. Our National Council of Young Women links us to schools, colleges and universities. NCYW holds seminars and workshops for women of all ages, and reports are sent forward to NCW. Link groups also respond to regular questionnaires on topical issues circulated by the NCYW Committee. We are also part of the 6.0 Group of Women’s Organisations, which brings together the six leading women’s groups in the UK (the National Federation of Women’s Institutes, the Townswomen’s Guild, the British Federation of Women Graduates, Soroptimists International of GB & Ireland Ltd, and Business and Professional Women UK). More than 40 organisations across the UK are affiliated to the NCW and take part in our policy committee work, seminars and Conference. Outside the UK, we are affiliated to the International Council of Women, which allows us to take part in the international and European associations of other National Councils of Women in many countries. We have also been granted Special Consultative Status at the United Nations.
