Cartagena Paws
www.cartagenapaws.comCartagena Paws is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to the rescue of the injured, abused and abandoned street animals of Cartagena, Colombia. We provide these animals with food, shelter and medical treatment. Our ultimate goal is to find each and every one of them a loving and permanent home. Cartagena Paws was founded in May 2015, by a young American teacher named Maureen Cattieu who was living abroad in Cartagena, Colombia. Maureen saw the important need to help the animals of Cartagena, and what once seemed like helping one animal at a time, grew, and a team was formed, all with the same goal and purpose. Cartagena Paws does not have a location, and rescues are all placed at either a vet clinic or foster. Our main goal is to rescue animals, get them healthy and get them adopted abroad. We have sent over 75 animals to the states, to loving and caring homes. We have a number of volunteers who help out with our social media pages, fostering, and also flight volunteers. Our fundraising efforts work to meet two main goals. The primary need is to offset the immediate medical & shelter expenses of our rescues. Many animals have experienced years of neglect or abuse and require a range vaccinations and surgeries for their rehabilitation. Our long term focus is to raise funds to build our own shelter so we may expand the number of rescues and placements. Please check out our website if you would like to learn more!
