Sometimes erotically-charged, sometimes romantically whimsical, usually only visible with a second glance, always theatrical and full of character, Muriel is the work of an artist with a love of stories and storytelling, and that shows. Artist and designer Sarah Jane Palmer draws on everything from historical archives, anecdotal evidence and her own artistic practice to create designs that will bring drama to any room. Twinning contemporary art practice with design for the luxury interiors market, her work is attracting a growing international audience looking for something ever so slightly cheeky for the modern home with a twist. What you’ll find here is a glimpse of the full collection to be launch in late 2015. What will unite them, even in their great variety, is that theme of the narrative, and the human quality visible in each print. The techniques used in hand-making show evidence of the human touch – something that machine made papers just can’t recreate – so a story of perseverance, craft and love is inherent to each piece. Designs can be customised too – using a personalised colour palette, or can be finished in a range of techniques, such as flocking or glitter. And the collection is ever-evolving – Muriel will soon incorporate iridescent shades, more finishes and new clever little tales rendered into beautiful intricate pattern work that will make a talking point of any wall.
