If you are in a Career Pathway at your high school, ROC & CTEC classes can provide the work-based learning facet of your Pathway. ROC & CTEC gives high school and adult students the hands-on experience and technical skills needed to get and keep a job. Career… College… or both? For students who plan to get a full-time job after high school, ROC & CTEC teaches marketable skills which qualify students for higher paying jobs. College-bound students use skills gained in ROC & CTEC to overcome a difficult barrier to success in college: the high cost of tuition, books and living expenses. What better way to offset college expenses than a well-paying, part-time job? ROC & CTEC classes may relate to a college major. There are no fees for high school students. Are High School and College Credits Given for ROC & CTEC Courses? Yes! All classes offer high school credits. High school students take ROC & CTEC classes in place of or in addition to other electives. You can also jump start a college career with ROC & CTEC. Students earn college credits towards a certificate or degree program at the Bakersfield College in some ROC & CTEC programs. ROC & CTEC classes are open to high school juniors and seniors and adults. High school students must be at least 16 years of age, and should contact their counselors regarding enrollment and credit. ROC & CTEC brochures are available in counseling offices and career centers on campus. Prerequisites may apply in some courses. We are accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and have received the highest possible accreditation.
