Over £250,000 in share capital has been raised by the community to buy and renovate the pub. In total, 267 private investors bought shares, including several held in trust for children and grandchildren. In addition, the community was awarded £100,000 in grants and loans under the More Than A Pub programme administered by the Plunkett Foundation and secured a mortgage from Co-operative and Community Finance to cover refurbishment costs. Guilden Morden Community Pub Limited (GMCP) is a Community Benefit Society (CBS) incorporated under the Cooperative and Community Benefit Societies Act 2014. It is owned and managed by the community for the benefit of the community. GMCP is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority. GMCP was set up to purchase, refurbish, reopen and let The Three Tuns. The Three Tuns Community Group (now known as GMCP) is a member of the Plunkett Foundation, a charity that seeks to support rural communities. The Group’s constitution is set out in its Rules, which are based upon the Model Rules of the Plunkett Foundation. The Three Tuns was nominated by Guilden Morden Parish Council as an Asset of Community Value and designated as such in October 2014 under the Localism Act 2011.
