Founded in 1931, the Point Lookout - Lido Fire Department is a public organization staffed exclusively by volunteers that provides emergency medical and fire protection services to 6,000+ residents within an 8 square mile response area on the South Shore of Long Island, NY. The department is comprised of five companies operating out of four stations, protecting a primarily residential area on a barrier island, approximately 30 miles outside New York City. The district is surrounded by water on three sides and includes many of the county and town beaches that serve Nassau County's 1.5 million residents.
