Media artist Erik Overmeire focuses in his work on the area between man and machine, with as mission to create interesting machines that blur the border between man and machine. In his works he applies robotics, generative film and sound, interacting with itself- creating a feedback loop and thus a primitive form of conscious- or with the audience. An example of his work, shown in among others Milan, Shanghai and Hong-kong is the Scared Chair, a robotic chair that dislikes people. Trying to sit on it, will cause the Scared Chair to run away from the visitor.
