A charitable organisation set up to support young people to achieve youth awards including the Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE) and Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS). We specialise in delivering the DofE award to marginalised young people from across Edinburgh & the Lothians. We also support the City of Edinburgh Council's Outdoor Learning team in their delivery of the DofE across Edinburgh, as well as assisting with management of their DofE volunteer network. FOTA also provide bespoke expedition support, deliver a variety of training courses for DofE leaders, and maintain a vast range of expedition equipment in our kit store. To assist the transition from primary to secondary education, in 2009 FOTA developed Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) - a progressive learning programme designed to recognise wider achievement in 10 - 14 year olds.
