The vision of the Texas A&M Ergo Center is to improve worker safety and health through education, research, and outreach. The Center provides practical, solution-based consulting services and performs leading edge research while fostering the success of safety and health professionals. Through educational activities, the Center provides experience outside the classroom for traditional students and provides professional development and continuing education courses for non-Texas A&M University System-enrolled students. The Center’s research activities focus on product testing and analysis, extensive literature reviews, research workspace experimental design, equipment validation, conducting ergonomic pilot studies, and equipment reliability testing. The Texas A&M Ergo Center’s outreach activities consist of safety and ergonomic workplace assessments; ergonomic process development, implementation, and evaluation; development and applications of ergonomic designs and interventions; assessing actual and prototypical workplaces using human modeling systems; job activity assessment using motion capture and augmented/virtual reality technologies; and expert witnessing.
