www.winid.orgThe Western Identification Network (WIN) is a consortium of western state and local law enforcement agencies that utilize a shared biometric database and network for the purpose of searching fingerprints and palmprints for criminal identification and civil background clearances for employment and licensing purposes. WIN Members include: Alaska Department of Public Safety, Idaho State Police, Montana Department of Justice, Nevada Department of Public Safety, Oregon State Police, Utah Department of Public Safety, Washington State Patrol, Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations and the California Department of Justice. WIN facilitates the ability of these states to search approximately 29 million western state fingerprint records. WIN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit company formed in 1989 as the first multistate automated fingerprint identification information network. WIN maintains a gateway to the FBI, Criminal Justice Information Services Division, Next Generation Identification System (NGI) to facilitate update and searching of the national biometric systems. WIN is managed by corporate staff in Rancho Cordova, California. WIN is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of managers from member state law enforcement agencies.
