Fashion Revolution was founded in the aftermath of the Rana Plaza disaster in 2013. It has become the world's largest fashion activism movement. Fashion Revolution Week is when we come together as a global community to create a better fashion industry. 2021 Campaign - Fashion and Colonialism, the Past is still Present As work continues to build a fashion industry that works for everyone, it’s important to remember that colonial influences remain deeply embedded within it. The practices and injustices of the past feature heavily in the industry’s modus operandi – even today. Fashion chains still follow trade routes established 150 years ago during the European colonization. The very process of producing billions of garments each year is still based on the exploitation of both man and nature. Fashion Revolution Netherlands hosted a series of online events to investigate and discuss the link between fashion and colonialism. At this milestone gathering, a fantastic line-up of speakers explored the unjust power dynamics that exist between formerly colonized and colonial nations.
