Adelaide Mbale Childrens Health Fund
www.adelaidembale.orgAdelaide Mbale Children's Health Fund (AMCHF) strives to improve health outcomes for disadvantaged children and their families in Mbale District, Uganda. We pursue this mission through increasing equitable access to preventable health care and knowledge of how to reduce the burden of disease in the community. The primary objective of AMCHF is to improve health outcomes for children and their families through; 1. Increasing access to health prevention knowledge and skills in remote communities through a network of Community Health Workers who disseminate knowledge and promote behaviour change strategies to prevent common diseases including pneumonia, malaria, diarrhoeal related diseases, sexually transmitted infections including HIV, positive hygiene practices, child rights awareness and domestic violence counselling. 2. Increasing access to culturally safe primary health care in the community through the Adelaide Mbale Children’s Health Clinic, providing essential medicines, referral pathways and primary health interventions. 3. Increasing access to life saving medical treatment by brokering a pathway for vulnerable children suffering life threatening conditions. The organisation was founded by Celeste and Luke Orr, together with the local Program Manager, Juliet Namono in 2007. We are governed by a voluntary committee in Adelaide, with all salaried positions based in Uganda and held by local staff. AMCHF has ATO tax deductibility and is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC) ABN: 39 364 035 929.
