In Japanese, kushi (串) refers to the skewers used while katsu (カツ) means a deep-fried cutlet of meat. Kushiage / Kushikatsu can be made with various meats, seafood, and seasonal vegetables. These ingredients are seasoned, then skewered on bamboo (kushi 串), dipped in egg, flour and panko crumbs then deep-fried in vegetable oil.
