The Golden Visa investment scheme had two avenues of entry: firstly, an investment into a Portuguese financial institution of €1,000,000 and, secondly, a property investment of €500,000. The investment ceiling has now become far more affordable at €350,000, which is attracting many investors who found it difficult to make the previously higher investment. The Portugal Golden Visa allows investors and their immediate family temporary residence in Portugal along with access to free travel throughout Europe for a five year period. After this time 5 year time period, investors and their families qualify for permanent residence in Portugal, and will qualify for citizenship after only 1 additional year further. Investors to date have realised growth of 60% on their property investments, while yields have been steady at rates very good for Europe.
