We founded Honesty Box to provide a ‘pay as you go’ visitor payment app for locations such as National Parks, Areas of Outstanding Beauty and Nature Reserves, as well as many other applications where voluntary payments offer an income opportunity. We operate on a fee charged to box owners based on the value of payments made, meaning there are no fixed fees or start up costs. Honesty Box provides a low risk, low cost solution for a wide variety of box owners such as National Park Authorities, community groups, local authorities and conservation organisations. Within each Honesty Box owners are able to describe their organisation or location and engage visitors on how their payment will be used such as for: conservation works, special projects, educational visits, improving access infrastructure etc. With, for example, an estimated 226 million day visits each year to the UKs National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England and Wales engaging these visitors to invest in the landscapes they are visiting has the potential to secure a significant income .
