My name is Jennifer Dancu, owner of Social Media 4 Seniors, and I have been a teacher and principal for over 20 years, instructing in public and private schools, as well as at the college level. During these years I implemented curriculum and guided teachers and students in learning the many different facets of today’s technology. Through personal and professional experience, I have noted a strong need among seniors who want to learn how to use smart phones, tablets, and laptops. However, they can sometimes be overwhelmed by what are, to them, completely unfamiliar devices. Seniors understand that their ability to connect with family and friends could vastly improve through the use of social media, but they just don’t know where to get the help they need. That’s how the vision of Social Media 4 Seniors came to be. I soon began helping seniors, using my background experience and knowledge to tutor them and make them confident using today’s social media technology. We help seniors in retirement communities, independent living communities, senior centers, and seniors in their own homes, keep their connections with family and friends alive by teaching them how to use social media, through the use of mobile devices or computers.
