www.idrs.org.auIntellectual Disability Rights Service is a specialist legal and advocacy service working with people with intellectual disability throughout NSW. The volunteers’ ensure people with disability show up at court, receive legal assistance and understand what is going on at court, often steering them to cost-effective, diversionary measures that keep particularly vulnerable people out of jail. In 2015 / 2016 the service supported over 1,131 people with disabilities, across New South Wales by providing legal assistance, support in the justice system and education. This figure represents a 29% growth in the number of people using IDRS services over a 12 month period.
