The Henrik Lundqvist Foundation, through its fundraising efforts and community outreach, strives to create positive change in the lives of children and adults throughout the world through education and health services. HLF was founded in 2014 by NY Rangers' goaltender Henrik Lundqvist and his wife Therese. After years of service through the Madison Square Garden's Garden of Dreams Foundation, including serving as a spokesperson since 2009, Henrik decided to create his own Foundation. HLF runs its own Young Ambassador program but also partners with a few carefully selected community partners in New York City, Sweden and a Swedish charity doing work in the Dominican Republic. In 2015, HLF launched its first Foundation-run program, the Henrik Lundqvist Young Ambassador Program. The program was started because of Henrik & Therese's belief in the incredible power of young people to make a difference in the world. The Foundation's community partners include: New York Presbyterian Children's Hospitals, Ronald McDonald Barnfond (Children's Fund), Together for Better & Garden of Dreams Foundation.
