If these products were allowed to decompose in landfills, compost piles, or buried, and the carbon in these products was released as CO2, the impact would be a release of approximately 2.0 MM tons of CO2 annually into the atmosphere, or the same as adding approximately 1.2 million cars to the nation’s roads.
