Bedford Charter Township is rich in history that goes back to the early 1800s as settlers began moving into Michigan. Calhoun County laid out its boundaries and was fixed by statute on October 29, 1829. The Territorial Road ran through Calhoun County which benefited settlers and immigrants alike. Bedford Township has seven elected officials. The supervisor, clerk, and treasurer are full-time. The four trustees attend regularly scheduled board meetings and take an active role in various committees and duties if requested by the Township Board.
