Umu Igbo Unite Cincinnati was founded in June, 2017 by 6 young Igbo Professionals and has grown to over 30 members and home to many living in the tristate area (Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana). The chapter’s vision is to provide a community for cultural awareness, networking, socializing and intellectual growth through the care and nurturing of each other as well as through constructive discussions, activities and showcases. UIU Cincy has a focus in sickle cell awareness locally and back in Nigeria. In 2018, the chapter launched the initiative by hosting multiple events that raised funds for the sickle cell initiative. Umu Igbo Unite Cincinnati will continue to collaborate with Cincinnati Children’s hospital and will move efforts back to Nigeria to conclude the 2018 efforts.
