Welcome to Gibed GIBED is a national form of cooperation of 9 Belgian, independent wholesalers in electrical material working with their own capital. GIBED wants to guarantee the independance of its members and the high-quality service to its customers by strenghtening its position in the market. GIBED is a member of Imelco, a European organisation with the same aims in 16 European countries and in Australia. In 2007, 10 wholesalers in electrical material, spread all over Belgium come together to exchange ideas about the future and to give a joint answer on the question of globalisation and the concentration of wholesale businesses that goes with it. They are all independent, working with their own capital and with a long experience. Although they all really want to stay independant, they also have a lot in common: a family atmosphere in the company, capital in their own hands, a high-quality service and a people-friendly relationship with their customers. A strong-weakness analysis shows the same results for all: they are rather small in size (a disadvantage in a more globalised world), but therefore also very flexible and customer-oriented (an advantage with regard to service). Globalisation is also a European story. Therefore Gibed becomes on January 1st 2008 member of Imelco, an association of cooperations with the same goals in 16 European countries and Australia.
