CAFS was founded by the International Planned Parenthood Federation - Africa Region (IPPFAR) and has been serving Africa since 1975. It is now a fully autonomous international non-governmental organisation. CAFS operates from strategically located bases in East and West Africa, with headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, and a regional office in Lomé, Togo.
