FMU is one of South Carolina's 13 public, coeducational institutions. FMU provides students with a strong liberal arts core but is well-known for its powerhouse professional programs. Health care instruction is on the rise now, with new programs popping up right and left, and the new Carter Center for Health Sciences set to open. FMU's new Industrial Engineering program is gaining steam, too, and the Business and Education programs are long-time staples in the area.
