Though alcohol was allowed to be imported after the Government liberalized import policies, Importers had to undergo various challenges/hassles in order to reach their products to the consumer. The country clearly lacked infrastructure and expertise to support the industry which was constrained by DGFT, Customs and State Excise rules and regulations. Seizing the opportunity, Veritas Logistics was set up to offer a one stop solution for the beverage industry from the port to the distributor. The promoters of the company were the first in obtaining a license to operate a publicly owned custom-bonded warehouse in the country. The company started with 10,000 square feet of custom bonded warehousing space in Mumbai and slowly acquired most of the leading companies in the industry as its clients. Today the company operates more than 1 lakh square feet of space in Mumbai, New Delhi and Bangalore with aggressive plans to increase its presence in other parts of the country. The Company has developed its own custom made software which is the backbone of the business today. By 2012, the company held 65% market share in the BIO segment in India and has now diversified into Cold warehousing for food. Veritas Logistics identifies itself as a logistics solutions provider and will continue to explore opportunities wherever personalised services are required in both Bonded and Non Bonded storage.
