Durag Festival ® found its roots in North Carolina with the first Durag Fest hosted in 2018 by Camp North End's BLK MRKT along with it's local and creative communities. Unofficially coined "The Met Gala of Durags", the festival celebrates unapologetic blackness in America. With so much of the black struggle tied to our hair, Durag Festival® serves to preserve and protect our roots, while creating new avenues for creatives to express and educate on the beauty and complexity of black culture.
