Quoin’s mission is to help people achieve home ownership. To accomplish this goal, we are building a software platform driven by AI and Machine learning which powers a service that brings property investors and first-time homebuyers together. By merging rental and buying models, we’ve developed a new way for people to have a place to call their own. We call our service “Rent-to-Deposit.” “Rent-to-Deposit” turns monthly rent into purchasing power by splitting and saving rent in a way that enables buyers to build mortgage down payments while living in their future home. As MSc. students at the University of Edinburgh, we were inspired to pursue this venture after meeting in our degree program. We bonded over our frustrations of paying rent, lamenting the fact that we could not purchase a home on our own. We realized the system was broken and a new solution was needed. Our service offers sellers tax benefits, cost minimizations, secure rental income, and secure sale prices by eliminating vacancy, maintenance, and management costs. For buyers, customers pay market rate rent with the added benefit of potentially earning back 30% of their total rent payments, building a deposit equal to 5-8% of the property value – automatically qualifying customers for a mortgage.
