GLYPHS - The Alphabetic Perfume Collection is a series of niche perfumes based on the historical origins of the Latin alphabet, co-created by Dutch design studio Autobahn and French master perfumer Mark Buxton. At Autobahn, we believe that anyone who can write should know where our letters come from. We've figured out how a letter should smell, by going back to the historical shape of our letters. For example, the original, visual form of our letter A is derived from a drawing of an ox's head. Turn the A upside down and we still see the horns and head of an ox. To make a wearable perfume out of it might sound crazy. But it worked! The series starts with three letter perfumes: Aleph - A is for Ox, Beth - B is for House and Gimel - C is for Boomerang. These perfumes come in a rollerball bottle, so you can write with it. Each perfume comes in a stone artifact where the development of the letter is cut out by hand. In search of funding this project, Autobahn launches a crowdfunding campaign, which starts May 1st. The more people know about GLYPHS, the greater the chance of a successful campaign.
