Crooks & Castles, founded in 2002 by Dennis Calvero and Robert Panlilio, introduced a lifestyle brand to streetwear reflective of the founders’ personal interests and experiences. Calvero and Panlilio grew up in Los Angeles during the tumultuous 80s and 90s. The childhood friends were inspired by their surroundings and dreamt big. Calvero convinced Panlilio to invest in the idea for a brand. They started with just six graphics, the designs clicked and the brand picked up momentum. As Crooks & Castles began to grow, it became clear that people could relate to the Crooks movement –rooting for the villain, doing what was necessary to better one’s self, and the indefatigable dream of building an empire.
