Payne & Gunter
www.payneandgunter.co.ukWe’re London’s originals Since 1786 we've been the makers of English hospitality in all its quirky glory, fine venues, characterful dining and impeccable delivery. The Payne & Gunter approach means that no two events are ever the same. Our emphasis on working with you to create an exceptional occasion truly makes us stand out in English hospitality. Payne & Gunter has an unrivalled reputation for quality and expertise. That legacy was founded back in Mayfair in 1786 with the establishment of Gunter's, a society caterer, who enjoyed no less than three royal warrants from George IV, V and Napoleon III. Gunter's was considered the wedding cake makers 'du jour' with high profile commissions including Queen Victoria's granddaughter. You could also pay a visit to Gunter's Tea Shops based in Berkeley Square, purveyors of the finest in ices and sorbets. Meanwhile Payne's caterers started life as a coffee bar in Shepherd's Bush, which was unfortunately bombed during World War II. Not to be defeated, the owner Guss Payne relocated to a larger restaurant before setting up as an outdoor catering company. To this day we continue to pride ourselves on a long-standing team who live and breathe attention to detail. From hospitality at historic palaces and galleries to entertaining at some of the most exciting outdoor events in the UK, Payne & Gunter remains London's originals.
