Northshore Families Helping Families (NFHF) is a 501(c)3 not for profit family led resource center for people with disabilities and their families. We are a one stop shop for all things disability serving individuals with disabilities throughout their lifespan, families, and professionals. We serve the parishes of Livingston, St. Helena, Tangipahoa, St. Tammany, and Washington with over 6,000 individuals served yearly, all at no charge to them. The mission of Northshore Families Helping Families is to provide individuals with disabilities the services, information, resources and support needed to enhance their independence, productivity and inclusion within our community. Programs and Services: Information & Referral We provide information about disabilities and direct you to the resources you need for services or additional information. We also have an extensive lending library with topics ranging from education to health issues. This library is available to you, your child’s educators, and health professionals. Education & Training We provide support to parents of children with exceptionalities navigating the education system. Our monthly workshops are presented on topics relevant to the issues facing persons with disabilities and their families. Peer to Peer Support Our peer to peer support program is geared for parents/caregivers and adults with disabilities. You can connect with other families similar to your own who can provide emotional support, specific information, and guidance. Join other adults building life experiences to promote inclusiveness of all individuals in every aspect of our community. We provide individuals and families with a wide array of disability related topics including: NFHF Programs, NFHF Lending Library, Specific Diagnosis, Special Education, Advocacy, Legislation, Health Services, & more.
