Since 1996 Wandsworth Primary Schools Consortium WPSC has been accredited by the National College for Teaching and Leadership to train highly motivated graduates to teach 5-11 year olds in primary schools via a school-centred initial teacher training SCITT . From 2003 there has also been the opportunity for trainees to specialise as teachers of 3-7 year olds. For 2016 17 we are offering PGCE places for 38 trainees. The course provides trainees with the theoretical and practical experience needed to meet the standards for Qualified Teacher Status QTS and the award of a PGCE with credits towards one third of a Master&
