British Animal Rescue and Trauma Care Association

www.bartacic.org

BARTA was established with a clear vision to support first responders in the resolution of emergency situations involving animals, with informed, safe and welfare driven plans. BARTA is uniquely positioned to bring together expertise from a range of industries and specialisms whose joint collaboration will impact the future of animal incident management across a broad spectrum of agencies and applications, from localised single animal incidents, to wide scale, multi-agency emergencies and disasters. The purpose of BARTA is to lead and inspire, to create opportunities and to leave legacies. BARTA has four strategic aims, the essence of which is captured in the strapline “Inspiring excellence in animal response”. Advice and Direction - Provide advice and direction based on current best practice agreed through stakeholder consensus or scientific evidence. Research and Development - Identify and support research and development projects to provide new innovation or scientific evidence base for current and future practices/methodology. Training and Accreditation - Provide educational opportunities in a blended learning approach with role specific applications, following common ethos across sectors supporting Incidents Involving Animals. Collaboration and Connectivity - Support developed and under developed countries through openly sharing learned practices and mentoring developing initiatives.
