Horwitz & Company
www.horwitzandco.comI first established my consulting practice in 1995 to help senior management teams grow their businesses in a strategic and sustainable way. Growth is my passion, since my entire career has been about building or leading growth initiatives in a broad range of industries. As a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, I helped Fortune 500 companies assess competitive situations and develop growth strategies. As a co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of a venture-backed Internet startup, I raised over $12 million in venture capital and led the company’s growth for three years. As a VP of marketing and strategy for a billion-dollar discount department store chain, I led the development of the growth strategy for the core business while also initiating the launch of a new business unit that was later sold off successfully. And early in my career, I had the opportunity to build an in-store bakery division for a regional supermarket chain. For the past 5 years, I have educated entrepreneurs from France about growing their entrepreneurial ventures in the US in partnership with the Consulate General of France through their NETVA program. Through my work at Boston University, I have also worked with entrepreneurs from Norway and Korea as they develop business plans for their businesses; several of these students have gone on to attract funding and launch their ventures. At both the School of Management at Boston University and Emerson College, I teach courses in strategy and entrepreneurship at both graduate and undergraduate levels. [most common misspelling of my last name is Horowitz. Also sometimes Horvitz, Horovitz, Hurwitz, Hurowitz.] Specialties: Growth plans, Strategic plans, strategic marketing plans and business plans, industry and competitive analysis, implementation plans
