We're siblings on a mission: making the world discover our natural cookies and delectable macarons! While in Southern France, our mom (Grace) did what the French do best: pastries! Escaping war-torn Lebanon in 1975, our mom’s family traveled to Cannes, France. She was used to watch her mother bake cakes, cookies and Middle Eastern sweets; while in southern France, she had the opportunity to taste new desserts and it was the beginning of a love story with sweets and baking! Heading back to Beirut, in 1977, she had a couple of recipes in her notebook and our scrumptious Basque cookies were part of it! In the early ’90s, our family moved to Canada. Being a food conscientious parent, our mom always paid attention to ingredients when doing groceries; she found it difficult to find healthy ingredients when it came to sweet snacks. Either too much sugar or bad ingredients spanning across many lines. Grace’s solution: bake cookies for school snacks! Her famous notebook had always some recipe ready to cater to our biggest sweets cravings and she didn’t lack imagination too for creating special occasion cookies. Once we graduated, our mom gradually stopped baking cookies… With a little curiosity on our part, and as her mother did before, she started teaching us the art of baking. In this process, she not only shared her recipes (and secrets!) but also transmitted her love of baking sweets and cookies to us! In February 2015, the idea of sharing Grace’s cookies started to develop. By May 2015, we registered the company and, with the help of our parents, La Biscuitery adventure begun!
