The Company's targeted investments are agency mortgage-backed securities ("MBS"), mortgage servicing rights ("MSRs"), mortgage credit investments and single-family residential ("SFR") rental properties. The Company's agency MBS consist of residential mortgage pass-through certificates for which the principal and interest are guaranteed by a U.S. Government enterprise such as Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. The Company's MSR related assets represent investments for which the return is based on the economic performance of a pool of specific Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac MSRs. An MSR provides a mortgage servicer with the right to service a pool of residential mortgage loans in exchange for a portion of the the interest payments made on the underlying residential mortgage loans. The Company's mortgage credit investments generally include investments in mortgage loans secured by either residential or commercial real property or MBS collateralized by residential or commercial mortgage loans. The Company's SFR investment strategy is to acquire, lease and operate singe-family residential homes as rental properties. The Company's common stock is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "AAIC." The Company is an internally managed company and does not have an external investment adviser.
