Hearts for the Homeless International Inc.
www.h4hinternational.orgHearts for the Homeless (H4H) International is an international nonprofit organization committed to informing the homeless population about their cardiovascular health and overall well-being. The most vulnerable population in the nation, the homeless, are more likely to develop hypertension and 40% to 50% more likely to die of cardiovascular disease for a variety of reasons. Now, with the pandemic, they are at an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 without access to proper health education and medical resources. To address this concern, H4H International provides the homeless with free blood pressure screenings, cardiovascular information, and donation drives. Additionally, we partnered with local food shares and healthcare clinics to offset this inequity. Over the last five years, we formed a community of dedicated volunteers at 40 chapters internationally. At these locations, students who wish to support our cause can serve at our clinical outreach events including the in-person/virtual blood pressure screenings and mask making events. Together, we strive to reduce this growing health disparity and spread awareness to the homeless community.
