Women Veterans on Wall Street (wVOWS)
www.veteransonwallstreet.comThe Women Veterans On Wall Street (wVOWS) is a newly established sub-committee of VOWS, which strives to raise awareness for women veterans, support women veterans transitioning from the military into the workforce, and establish a strong support network for women veterans in the Greater New York City Area, and expanding nationally in the future. The wVOWS mission will target the specific issues and concerns specific around women veterans that align with the overall VOWS mission. In 2015, POTUS authorized the opening of combat roles to women, to include ground combat and combat support jobs, special operating forces and others. As of 2015, women comprise about 15% of the active duty military, and up to 20% of the reserve components (Reserve, National Guard, and Individual Readiness Reserve (IRR)). Mission: “To serve as VOWS’ prime support network for women veterans transitioning from the military to the workforce through mentorship, coaching, and recruitment in an effort to successfully support them throughout their careers and raise awareness for women veterans.” Opportunities: Quarterly meetings with fellow members Networking events Conferences/Symposiums Recruiting events Coaching cohorts
