Afghanaid
www.afghanaid.org.ukAfghanaid is a British humanitarian and development organisation. For almost 40 years, our dedicated personnel have worked with millions of deprived, excluded and vulnerable families in some of the poorest and most remote communities in Afghanistan. We build basic services, improve livelihoods, strengthen the rights of women and children, help communities protect against natural disasters, and respond to humanitarian emergencies. Our community-led approach gives ordinary Afghans a voice in their own development, making them active participants in shaping the future of their country. With our years of experience, our majority Afghan team, and our deep understanding of local, cultural and ethnic issues, we have earned great trust and respect among the communities we serve. This has allowed us to gain access to some of the most underserved areas of the country. Our Vision: A peaceful and thriving Afghanistan. Our Mission: To provide Afghans with the training and tools they need to help themselves, their families and their communities. Our Focus: We particularly target vulnerable households – including those headed by women, or with elderly, chronically ill or disabled family members. Afghanaid employs around 400 staff, the vast majority of whom are Afghan and more than a third of whom are women. We are headquartered in Kabul with provincial offices in Samangan, Badahkshan, Takhar, Ghor, Herat, Nangarhar and Logar. We also have a small London office which supports our fundraising and programme design. This structure enables Afghanaid to use its resources in the most efficient and sustainable way and have the greatest possible impact in the vulnerable communities we work with.
