York Art Association, Inc.
www.yorkartassociation.orgYork Art Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that supports excellence and education in the visual arts. Pursuing its mission to encourage and promote interest in all forms of the visual arts, YAA provides support to artists of all ages and skill levels through classroom instruction, workshops, lectures, publications, promotions and exhibitions. It provides access to members and non-members alike, including opportunities to display and sell work in roughly 2 dozen exhibitions annually. YAA runs three galleries, and coordinates displays with many outside venues, bringing art to over 4,000 people in the past year. YAA draws membership and support from south-central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. Although largely self-sustaining, YAA receives supportive funding from the Cultural Alliance of York County, as one of its eight partner organizations. This has lead to effective, ongoing, collaborations with other local artistic, cultural, historical, educational, and nature organizations. Founded in 1905, York Art Association demonstrates its enduring stability through our 450+ members, ownership of a formal arts facility, and engagement of professional instructors and staff. Notable in 2015 is the opening of an on-site sculpture garden, an exhibition of work by local youth, funding of an annual scholarship with York College of Pennsylvania, and arts outreach programs to local schools and libraries. Our hugely popular Wild & Wooly exhibition, staged in collaboration with Richard M. Nixon County Park & Nature Center, promises to be the first of many community based arts projects. YAA maintains an active online presence through our website (link below) and social media (Facebook and Twitter). Discover Us, Discover Yourself!
