The Paul Lavelle Foundation is a charity set up by a group of friends and family in the name of a dear late friend who came to a devastating, fatal end as a result of domestic violence. Paul had suffered in silence from domestic abuse for far too long and during the court case it was highlighted that there was a definite overall lack of awareness and support for males suffering in the same situation. It is a taboo subject and one that is never spoken out about due to males feeling weak or ashamed to do so. The friends of Paul Lavelle recoginsed that this needs to radically change and thus the charity was born. The PLF has been on a quest since it began to eradicate the stigma that is attached to male domestic abuse and it is actively encouraging males to speak out about their abusive relationships without shame. The PLF is currently working towards providing support services to male survivors and hope to be live with these by the end of 2019. The PLF has a strong affiliation with sports and the outdoors. It encourages healthy activities to encourage healthy mind sets and is due to launch various community out door and sporting groups for all to join.
